Health Ombud on Incident of Ms Martha Marais tied to a chair at Mamelodi Day Hospital

The Health Ombud noted with great concern about the public outrage incident of Ms. Martha Marias tied to a chair allegedly by staff at Mamelodi Day Hospital.

The Health Ombud take not that MEC of Health in Gauteng, Dr. Bandile Masuku took an initiative and leader to investigate and address issues raised by the family and the public about the conduct of staff at Mamelodi Day Hospital.

The MEC provided the Health Ombud with the preliminary report, which the Ombud fully supported and agreed with his approach while waiting for the final report. Steady progress and appropriate actions are being made and taken.

The Health Ombud is constantly and directly in contact with the MEC of Health and Gauteng on the matter, and he will decide once the final report is presented.
